The Tower
Card 16The Tower represents sudden, disruptive change that tears down false structures. It is shocking and often painful, but ultimately liberating.
Card Description
A lightning bolt strikes the crown of a tall tower, sending it crashing. Two figures fall from the tower against a dark sky. Flames burst from the windows, and twenty-two flames in the shape of the Hebrew letter yod rain down, representing divine intervention. The tower was built on shaky foundations of ego and false belief. Its destruction, while terrifying, clears the way for something true.
The Tower Reversed
Reversed, The Tower may indicate avoiding inevitable change, fear of upheaval, or a disaster narrowly averted. The internal transformation is happening even if the external collapse is delayed.
The Tower in Love
In love, The Tower often signals a dramatic revelation or upheaval. A truth comes to light, a relationship suddenly changes, or the foundations of what you thought you had are shaken. While painful, this clearing makes authentic connection possible.
The Tower in Career
The Tower in career warns of sudden disruption: a layoff, a company collapse, a project failing dramatically. But The Tower only destroys what was built on false foundations. What remains will be stronger and truer.
The Tower in Spirituality
Spiritually, The Tower is an ego death. The beliefs, identities, and structures you have built around yourself are being struck by divine lightning. It hurts. But what emerges from the rubble is your authentic self.
Let it fall. What is collapsing was not as solid as you believed. The truth, however uncomfortable, will set you free.
