How we handle your data

The Cards Know ("the App") is operated by Swell Apps LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. It covers both the mobile app and the website at thecardsknow.com. We believe in transparency and keeping things simple.

Information We Collect

When you use The Cards Know, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name and email address, collected through our authentication provider Clerk when you create an account.
• Birth date and time: Optionally provided by you to enable personalized readings.
• Reading history: A record of the tarot cards you draw and the readings generated for you.
• Journal entries: Any reflections or notes you write within the App.
• Intention and life area preferences: The intentions and focus areas you set to guide your readings.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve your experience within The Cards Know. Specifically, we use your information to:

• Authenticate your account and maintain your session.
• Generate personalized tarot readings based on your history, intentions, and preferences.
• Store your journal entries and reading history so your practice grows over time.
• Manage your subscription status.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not serve ads in the App. Your practice is yours.

Third-Party Services

The Cards Know relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each service receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its function:

• Clerk — Authentication and account management. Clerk receives your name, email address, and manages your login sessions.
• Anthropic Claude API — AI-powered readings. When a reading is generated, your card data and stated intentions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic's data usage policies apply to this processing.
• RevenueCat — Subscription management for mobile (iOS and Android). RevenueCat processes your subscription status and links purchases from the App Store or Google Play to your account.
• Apple App Store & Google Play — Payment processing for mobile subscriptions. When you subscribe on a mobile device, Apple or Google (not us) handles the transaction and receives your payment details.
• Stripe — Payment processing for web subscriptions. When you subscribe on the web, Stripe handles the transaction and receives your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
• Railway — Application and database hosting. Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway's infrastructure.
• Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery for the website. Cloudflare routes and accelerates traffic to our services.
• Google Analytics — Anonymous traffic analytics on the thecardsknow.com website only (not in the app). Google Analytics collects aggregated data about page visits and referral sources. We do not use it to identify individuals, and you can opt out using browser tools such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Formsubmit — Contact form processing on the support page only. When you submit a message through the form at thecardsknow.com/support, the form data (name, email, topic, message) is transmitted through Formsubmit to our support inbox. We do not use it for any other purpose.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway. All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

Cookies

In the app: The Cards Know uses cookies only for authentication purposes, managed by Clerk. These cookies are necessary for you to remain signed in to your account.

On the website: thecardsknow.com uses authentication cookies (Clerk, for signed-in users) and anonymous Google Analytics cookies for aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

Age Requirement

The Cards Know is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users between 13 and 17 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. In the European Union, United Kingdom, and certain other jurisdictions, the minimum age for consent to data processing may be higher (typically 16), and we require parental consent where required by law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. If you would like to delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at hello@thecardsknow.com and we will process your request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or via email. Continued use of The Cards Know after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
